So, here's the news. I have Hodgkin's Lymphoma cancer. What is this? Check the links to the right. But, to be brief, it is a cancer of the lymph nodes. It usually starts above or below the diaphragm, and, in my case, grew into my lung. Others will have lumps in their armpits, neck, or groin. There are hundreds of lymph nodes in your body, and they control disease prevention.
I am taking a chemotherapy (chemo for short) regimen called ABVD. This is shown to be highly successful for patients with Hodgkin's. In fact, there is over an 80% success rate for Hodgkin's patients. In my case, I have what is called Type IIE, which means the cancer has spread from several lymph nodes into adjacent tissue (the lung), but has not yet crossed the diaphragm.
I have had one chemo session so far. And it was no fun. It knocked me out for two days, then I got a sore throat. The sore throat was probably from my sister and was caused by my decreased white blood count.
Check out my story to the right.
