The Intro page
Ok, this page is to tell a little about myself. I am the first born of 5 children. My oldest sister is married, with 3 kids, and doing very well. My brother just got married this time last summer and is attending law school at UK. My next brother is also in Lexington attending LCC, and my youngest sister is still dealing with high school.
I went to Oldham County High School and have spent my whole life in the eastern part of Louisville, Kentucky (I include Oldham County in this area). I hope to call Louisville my home after college is finished.
LDS Mission
I served a two year mission for my church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in Salt Lake City, Utah, of all places. It was very interesting, fun, frustrating, and a great growing experience. My testimony of Jesus Christ and his sacrifice grew so much during this time. Even now, I know that He is my Saviour and Redeemer, and I cannot return to my Father in Heaven without Jehovah. I am so greatful that my Father and His son, Jesus, appeared to Joseph Smith and returned many, many lost truths. Through Joseph's earthly service as our Saviour's prophet, I am able to learn the meaning of life, gain a happiness I could not know otherwise, and to be married to Noelle for time and all eternity.
Work & School
After the mission, I spent 2.5 years at Ricks College, now called BYU Idaho. I graduated with an Associate's Degree in both Electronic Engineering Technology and Computer Systems Technology. I came back to Louisville to attend the University of Louisville (UofL) and promptly did poorly. Part of this was I attempted to work, and working was more fun. I enjoy working more than school. People tell me school is better, but think they're crazy. Anyway, so school didn't work out for me, and as it turned out, the job didn't do so well either.
I finally found a great job, at Agora Interactive, were I was working with computer games, using my technical skills honed at Ricks, and learning a lot. Unfortunately, after nearly a year and a half, that start-up company folded due to upper management in-fighting, and I was back on the streets looking.
I found a job with a good company, ProNET Systems. I was able to hone my skills at IT work and get a good business sense on how to treat customers and run an IT contracting business. In fact, this website is graciously hosted by them.
It had been nearly three years since I left UofL, so I decided to attempt to get back in. I did, and that is where I am at today, getting some good mathematical skills, but getting even farther in the red. I also run my own business, The Computer Doctor, where I fix home computers. I don't have many customers, which is just as well during the school year.
Personality and Interests
If you couldn't already tell, I like computers. I'm not sure why this is except that I like games. I am quite a competitive person sometimes. Computer gaming is almost natural for me, and I even considered going pro. (I could earn quite a bit of money doing this, too.) But the amount of time and practice needed to do this would cause my brain to go to mush. I noticed this while I was at Agora Interactive. Anyway, because I like computer games so much and computers break down often, I had to figure out how to fix the thing so it would work again. This also seemed to come naturally to me. I don't do cars, but I know my way around computers.
I also like many sports. My favorites are basketball, soccer, and ultimate frisbee (football with a frisbee). If it weren't for this cancer problem, I would have joined an ultimate league this summer. The cancer isn't preventing me from activity, but the treatments are an interruption and a nuisance. It has to get done, and I keep a positive attitude about it. My church is refinishing the basketball court at their building and I can hardly wait until it is finished.
